KMCA is moving into the future with the latest in FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) equipment. By combining our knowledge of model building with this new technology, we are able to create parts faster and more accurately than ever before. We are even able to build parts that would have previously been impossible, and still maintain a cost effective process. To see what we are doing with this technology, look at our 3D Printing Gallery. The ProcessThe process starts with a CAD model of the object to print. This model will have to be in .STL (stereolithography) format to print, but we can convert any closed surface or solid file into .STL. For additional information, see our Guidelines section.
This .STL model will then be brought into our powerful software suite which we use to create the layered paths of plastic and support material necessary to build the object.
After the paths are created, our FDM machine takes over and builds the object from the bottom up, layer by layer, until a solid ABS plastic part is created. The part can then be painted, finished or left as is.
